About the Masterclass

In the Secure and Responsible Tech Policy Foundations course, you’ll build your knowledge of the fast-moving digital technology governance lanHow can we better support students, educators, and school administrators across Canada to reduce device distractions to enhance classroom learning? The Masterclass is designed to equip participants with essential knowledge about the rapidly evolving landscape for kids and digital technology in K-12 education, and practical skills and tools for implementing successful school phone restrictions in Canada. This intensive half-day session provides a foundational understanding of current evidence and policy interventions about the impacts of internet-connected devices on children and youth (i.e. social media, EdTech), an overview of smartphone restriction models and practical strategies for implementation. 

Explore evidence on youth development, including effects on attention, mental health, and academic performance. Acquire practical skills and tools including communication templates and strategies for addressing non-compliance while maintaining a positive school culture. 

This course is for professionals working in Canada’s K-12 education systems, including school board / district decision-makers, principals, educators, school administrators, government policymakers and advocates. Attendees will receive a certificate of completion after attending the professional development session. 

This course is presented by Dais Learning, as part of the Secure and Responsible Tech Policy (SRTP) program.
