About the course
Canada needs policymakers for a new economy.
In an era of rapid technological change and global turmoil, Canada’s economic policy has not adapted for today’s digital economy. As a result, the country lags in global competitiveness, GDP and productivity growth, business adoption of technology and artificial intelligence (AI). At the same time, gains from digital innovation are not creating inclusive prosperity, with many Canadians left behind.
This course aims to equip professionals to make better policy for Canada, applying the Dais’ unique applied policy lens for inclusive innovation and responsible tech framework. You will develop a practical understanding of the key drivers of the digital economy and the existing policy landscape, and build skills for analyzing innovation and technology policy levers and trade-offs. You will also build your networks within a small, dynamic cohort of professional learners, with exclusive access to leading guest speakers.
Each week will address a key driver of inclusive prosperity in the digital economy: productivity and innovation, workforce, competition, and the intangible economy (intellectual property, data, privacy and AI). For each driver, the course will examine the current state, challenges Canada faces, and public policy levers. Responsible AI adoption and governance case studies and practical policymaking tools will be featured throughout the course.
This course is the third course in the SRTP program.
